El Porvenir

El Porvenir means the future, what is still to come.

El Porvenir is the luxury of being able to think long term. Inspired by future generations, we conceived of this wine.

Because when we think of what is to come, we think about how legacies are passed down, about how the future will be, and about how this wine, which is our family icon and which expresses our ideas in their purest and most noble form, is helping Cafayate be the best it can be.

El Porvenir, our great promise.

It is a blend of at least four red varietals that vary each year as we seek to choose the best wines from each vintage to make up this iconic blend. The parcels from which they come are specially selected and specially farmed during the year to obtain a yield of less than 4 tons per hectare.

It spends a minimum of 18 months in new French and American oak barrels and almost 2 years in bottle before being released.

Varietal Composition

60% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Tannat and 3% Petit Verdot.

Vineyards

Finca Rio Seco: vineyards located at 1.700 mts (5,577 ft) above sea level. Finca El Retiro (just Tannat) at 1.650 mts (1.413 ft) above sea level in Cafayate Valley, Salta.

Structure

Finca Río Seco: vertical vine training, low yield of 4.5 tons/hectare. Age of vineyard: 15 years.
Finca El Retiro (just Tannat): pergola vine training. Age of vineyard: 55 years.

Harvest

Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon: 1st week of March. Syrah: 2nd week of March. Tannat and Petit Verdot: 1st week of April. By hand in bin of 20 kg.

Fermentation

Cold pre-fermentative maceration for 6 days at 4 degrees C. 15 days of alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature between 27 and 29 degrees C. Post- fermentative maceration of 20 days. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation.

Aging

From 18 to 22 months in new French and American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

Eyes: intense ruby red, with an almost-black center.

Nose: red and black fruits such as blackberry, plum, cassis, and dried figs. The oak is present but well integrated, with smoked
and vanilla notes.

Mouth: nice entry, intense, with a unique personality and good acidity. Sweet tannins, good balance and structure, and a very long finish.

Storage: because of its excellent structure, this wine can be kept for up to 15 years.
